Refuge runs the 24 hour Freephone National Domestic Violence Helpline with Women's Aid. All calls to the helpline are treated as confidential. We won’t reveal that you have been in touch with us, and we won’t pass on any information without getting permission from you first. Our helpline staff are specially trained, friendly and understanding. If you don’t get through at first, please keep trying. We are quieter in the evenings, at night and at weekends. Call us at a time you know is safe for you to talk, but if you're in serious danger call 999.

Our aim is to make you aware of your options so that you can make a decision about your next steps. We won’t ever judge you, or tell you what to do. Even if you’ve never talked about your experiences before, you’re welcome to give us a ring. We know talking for the first time can be hard, but many people feel better for simply sharing their problems. We are also able to put you in contact with other services that may be able to help – if this is something you would like us to do.
