Mwy Na Geiriau - More Than Just Words

It’s important, when we are at our most vulnerable, that we receive support in the language we feel most comfortable.

Cymraeg belongs to us all and it’s important that when people are at their most vulnerable the support they are offered is in a language that best supports their needs.

In 2012 Welsh Government introduced 'Mwy na Geiriau', a strategy for social care and health to deliver person centred care recognising that providing services through the medium of Cymraeg is not just a matter of choice but also a matter of need.

Whilst this applies to everyone, it is a particular priority for

  • children and young people,
  • older people,
  • people with learning disabilities,
  • mental health service users,
  • people living with dementia,
  • people accessing stroke services,
  • people accessing speech and language therapy services.

Everyone should be able to access the services they need in Cymraeg without having to ask for it.

'Mwy na Geiriau' is making a real difference to the lives of individuals and their families.
