Expansion of Childcare Offer - Flintshire

childcare offer wales.pngThe Childcare Offer provides 30 hours of government funded early education and childcare to the working parents of 3 to 4 year olds across Wales for 48 weeks per year.

Working parents whose children will be eligible for the Offer from 1 September 2022 can apply now.

This year, the Childcare Offer is being expanded to eligible parents who are in education or training.

A parent in education or training can be a parent who is either:

  • Enrolled on a Higher Education (HE) undergraduate or postgraduate course that is at least 10 weeks in length. This includes courses delivered via distance learning.
  • Enrolled on a course that is at least 10 weeks in length and which is delivered at a Further Education (FE) Institution. This includes courses delivered via distance learning.

Flintshire Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Social Services and Wellbeing, Councillor Christine Jones, said:

“Flintshire has led the way from the start on this Welsh Government initiative and I am delighted that it is being further expanded to include parents who are in education and training.  This is so important as it will give them the opportunity to learn and develop which in turn will enhance their future career prospects.

“We already know that we are supporting the wellbeing of children and helping to address childhood poverty in a very direct way by increasing working household’s disposable incomes.  Many families have told us this has had a positive impact on their wellbeing. I would encourage anyone who thinks they could be eligible to check.”
