Procurement Strategy
Published: 11/11/2016
Having recently approved new procedure rules for how procurements take place,
Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet will be asked to review a new Procurement
Strategy at its meeting on 15 November.
The Council already achieves good value for money from its procurement activity
and this strategy will build on that success and link procurement activity more
strongly to the achievement of the Council’s improvement priorities.
Cabinet Member for Corporate Management, Councillor Billy Mullin, said:
“As well as promoting contracts with local businesses, this strategy aims to
increase the number of contracts awarded to social enterprises and to encourage
the use of community benefit clauses. The strategy contains very clear
measures that will demonstrate how the Council’s spend is adding value to the
local economy and benefitting our communities.
“The Procurement Strategy is an important part of the Council’s Medium Term
Financial Strategy and as such will support further progress in maximising
service provision at minimum cost.”
