Our Flintshire

Following a successful first public engagement meeting in Buckley, Flintshire County Council is encouraging you to sign up one of the remaining meetings taking place throughout November. At these meetings, we will share our position, explain our plan and invite your support. Local services and community facilities continue to be under threat because of big reductions in public spending. Flintshire has adapted, modernised and changed to cope with successive years of major reductions in its budgets. Despite the challenges of having to do more with less, the Council and its partners retain their ambitions for a forward thinking and prosperous county and region supported by high quality public services. Flintshire County Council Leader, Councillor Aaron Shotton, said: We are one of the lowest funded Councils in Wales and this low funding level when combined with the effects of the continuing UK austerity agenda does expose us to particularly high levels of financial pressures. Over the last 4 years, Flintshire has been creative in absorbing budget cuts through careful planning, being efficient, finding innovative solutions, and reducing back office costs to protect front-line services. The Council has now reached a ‘tipping point’ where services will be exposed to major cuts without some relief from Welsh Government.
