New housing development to work with local businesses
Published: 14/10/2016
The Flintshire County Council Strategic Housing and Regeneration Programme
(SHARP) is making a positive impact on small local businesses within the
county.
The programme is building new council and affordable homes across Flintshire.
The contractor appointed by the council, Wates Living Space, is holding an
event which will provide an opportunity for local small businesses to find out
more about these exciting new housing developments with a view to being
employed on a sub-contractor basis. All local small businesses that are
construction related and based in Flintshire are welcome to visit the Wates
Site Office at the Walks, (off Chester Road), Flint on Monday 24 October 2016
between 9am and 6pm to find out more. The invitation is extended to all areas
of construction including architects, painters and decorators, landscapers,
brick layers and other contractors.
Flintshire County Council’s Leader, Councillor Aaron Shotton, said:
“The successful partnership between the Council and Wates has already seen many
local businesses benefit from working with us. The next phase of our SHARP
programme opens the door to other local businesses, not matter what size, to
take advantage of this opportunity.”
Flintshires Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Helen Brown, said:
“In addition to providing quality affordable housing, we are keen to generate
employment opportunities through the use of local businesses as part of the
SHARP construction phase. I would encourage small businesses within the
construction industry to attend this event to find out more and see how they
can get involved.”
