Committee will consider proposals for the development of 40 new Council homes
on 5 sites in Mold, Leeswood and Connah’s Quay under Phase 2 of the Council’s
Strategic Housing And Regeneration Programme (SHARP) at a meeting on Wednesday,
13 July.
Detailed proposals have been put forward for new homes on sites at Ysgol Delyn,
Mold (16); Heol y Goron (5) and Maes Y Meilion, Leeswood (8); Redhall (5) and
The Dairy, Mold Road (6) in Connah’s Quay.
Each property will be designed to comply with the Council’s Flintshire House
Standard. The standard complies with the Welsh Government’s Design Quality
Requirements and will guide the design and specification of all the new housing
delivered through this programme. This includes the consistent good quality
internal layout of properties, high standards of energy efficiency and adequate
parking.
Cllr. Aaron Shotton, Leader of the Council said,
“These 5 sites form the next key stages of our ambitious house building
programme and will build on the considerable progress being made at the first
developments currently underway at The Walks in Flint and in Connah’s Quay on
the site of the former Custom House Lane School, where the first new Council
homes in over 20 years are expected to be completed before Christmas.”
Cllr. Helen Brown, Cabinet Member for Housing said,
“I am delighted at the progress being made to build much needed new homes and
that the Council’s ambitions to provide more social and affordable housing for
the people of Flintshire are being realised. “
“A Local Lettings Policy will be developed for each of the proposed schemes to
ensure housing opportunities for local people are maximised.”
