Flintshire County Council was the first authority in Wales to set up its own
housing company back in 2014.
Less than two years on and the company is going from strength to strength.
Designed to respond to the challenges experienced by residents in accessing
affordable housing, NEW Homes (North East Wales Homes) was set up by the
Council to increase the housing options available to local residents. It offers
tailored housing management services which are designed to increase the
quantity and quality of affordable housing across the county.
And the company has just rented out its 50th property at Overlea Drive,
Hawarden.
Manager of NEW Homes, Phil Gilbert, said:
“It’s a real pleasure to be able to hand over the keys of our 50th property
rental in less than 2 years to Andrew Trinder. We hope to continue to provide
quality rental properties and a quality service to the residents of Flintshire
for years to come.”
Cllr Bernie Attridge, Chair of the NEW Homes Board and Flintshire County
Council’s Deputy Leader, said:
“I had every confidence that NEW Homes would be a huge success and I’ve been
proved right. In Flintshire, we continue to work proactively to meet the
housing needs of our residents through the exciting schemes such as this which
significantly improve the housing options available for our residents.
In addition to renting out its own properties, NEW Homes also has a range of
offers for landlords which all include a ‘tenant ready’ service. The company
offers a fully managed letting and property management service and also a
unique offer for home owners over 55 to lease their properties to the company
and access suitable council accommodation.
NEW Homes is wholly owned by Flintshire County Council.
