Flintshire County Council is pleased to announce that Welsh Government funding has been secured to carry out improvement works on the A541 Abermorddu and the A541 / B5102 Llay junction.
The Hollybush junction and the A541 Abermorddu junction have suffered traffic congestion issues for many years. The proposed scheme will address the congestion and improve bus journey times on the core network providing improved access to education, employment opportunities and health facilities along the Mold to Wrexham route.
The work will include a traffic signal upgrade at the existing traffic signals at Abermorddu junction, a junction re-design including new traffic signals at the A541 / B5102 Hollybush, bus stop relocation and carriageway resurfacing.
Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Streetscene and Countryside, Councillor Carolyn Thomas, said:
“This is a much needed project which will improve the Abermorddu junction area. Despite continuing financial restraints, we are pleased to have secured Welsh Government funding for these improvements which demonstrates the importance of our road network to the Council.”
The work, which is currently out to tender, is due to start early February 2021 and will be taking place over a 10 week period. It will be managed by appropriate traffic control which may require weekend road closures.
