Joint Statement by Flintshire County Council and Aura: Deeside Leisure Centre

Aura Leisure and Libraries together with the Council has commissioned an options appraisal study for the future re-development of the Deeside Leisure Centre site.  The aspiration for a masterplan proposal pre-dates the current repurposing of the site as a rainbow hospital and presents an exciting development opportunity for a venue that is 50 years old and reaching the end of its natural life.

The project demonstrates our shared commitment to leisure and sport, together with health and well-being, with the long term aim being to have a modern and multi-purpose community venue which would continue to be a source of local pride.

The options appraisal study represents the first step towards providing a long term solution for a large site of strategic importance to both Aura and the Council.  As previously stated, Aura looks forward to welcoming back its customers to Deeside Leisure Centre in 2021 once there is no longer any need for additional capacity to support the delivery of health care services in North Wales.
