Refurbished Community Hall reopens
Published: 29/06/2015
The recently refurbished Cilfan Community Hall in Flint has been officially
reopened.
The community hall, which is part of a sheltered housing complex, has received
a number of improvements and adaptations, which all aim at making it fully
accessible.
These include a refurbished kitchen with lever taps on the sink unit; a
complete repaint, to create a colour contrast; and the following new additions:
lighting to assist visual impairment; colour contrasted hand rails to the main
entrance door ramp; a new fire exit door with ramp and colour contrasted hand
rails; fully accessible WC; blinds on all windows to reduce glare issues and
non slip flooring throughout the facility.
Councillor Bernie Attridge, Deputy Leader of Flintshire County Council, who
officially re-opened the Community Hall, said:
“I am extremely proud that the Council has been able to provide this investment
in such a well used and valued community facility. It is important that
everyone is able to access and enjoy Cilfan Community Hall, and these
adaptations and improvements ensure that this can now happen.”
The event was also attended by Chair of Flintshire County Council, Cllr Ray
Hughes, and local ward members Cllr Alex Aldridge and Cllr David Cox.
Cllr Alex Aldridge said:
“I am delighted to be here at the formal reopening of the refurbished Community
Centre. Both myself, and fellow ward member, Councillor David Cox, have been at
the forefront of pressing for this investment for this well used community
facility. I hope that, as in the past, this continues to be as well used as it
has been in recent years.”
