Published: 18/09/2020
Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet will review the latest budget position for the financial year 2020/21 when it meets on Tuesday 22 September.
This report takes into account the latest position on Welsh Government Emergency Grant Funding set aside to help local government cope with the financial impacts of the pandemic emergency situation.
The report shows a projects in-year operating deficit of £0.983m. Such a deficit would be well within the limits the Council sets on variations to its £260m annual budget. These figures exclude the potential impacts of increased demand for the Council Tax Reduction Scheme (CTRS) and any shortfall in hitting our Council Tax income target for the year.
The Council has managed its finances tightly, and well during a challenging and disruptive emergency situation.
The Council is working closely with Welsh Government and Welsh Local Government Association to address the cost pressures arising from the emergency and the response we and all councils have had to make. Further financial assistance Is expected from from the additional £264m funding package announced in August.
