Flintshire County Council’s Environmental Health team has successfully prosecuted a landlord under the Housing Act 2004 & Housing (Wales) Act 2014, designed to protect the health and safety of tenants.
Mr Abdul Khalid of 103 Chester Road in Shotton was found guilty in his absence of three offences relating to said property. The premises were subject to two Prohibition Orders, one from Flintshire County Council’s Environmental Health team and one from the North Wales Fire & Rescue Authority.
Mr Khalid was fined a total of £9,976.60, including costs.
Flintshire County Council’s Chief Officer for Planning, Environment and Economy, Andrew Farrow, said:
“This is a great result and shows that Flintshire County Council will follow up on Prohibition Orders to protect tenants from living in dangerous premises. It reflects Flintshire’s commitment to ensuring homes in the private rented sector are properly managed.”
