Changes coming at the Register Office
Published: 27/11/2019
Flintshire’s Register Office is gearing up for the introduction of Civil Partnerships for opposite sex couples.
The regulations allowing Civil Partnerships for opposite sex couples come into force on 2 December, meaning that this is the first date on which couples can give Notice of a Civil Partnership.
As there must be 28 days’ Notice before the ceremony, the first opposite sex couple Civil Partnership could take place on 31 December this year.
Flintshire is fortunate in that the County Register Office is housed in a stunning listed property – Llwynegrin Hall in Mold. This magnificent venue has scope to offer a range of complementary services, such as offering drinks and canapés before or after a ceremony.
In addition to marriage and civil partnerships, the registration service also register births and deaths, licence venues for civil ceremonies, have custody of archived records, issue copy certificates, and conduct citizenship and celebratory ceremonies such a renewal of marriage vows and baby naming.
Flintshire County Council’s Chief Officer for Governance, Gareth Owens, said:
“The registration service is able to offer various types of celebratory ceremonies personalised to meet customer requirements.”
Llwynegrin Hall was built by Thomas Jones, local architect and county surveyor, and was completed in 1830. It was a peaceful country home until 1948 when the Hall and surrounding land was purchased by Flintshire County Council. The Hall retains the atmosphere of a family residence and provides a wealth of period features and is a perfect venue for all occasions.
