Improvement works in Treuddyn

Flintshire County Council has invested significantly on improvement works at a number of schemes in the Treuddyn area, as part of our investment programme to achieve the Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS).

WHQS is a national standard of quality for homes set by the Welsh Government and this work gives employment and apprenticeship opportunities to local people.

This work was to enhance the thermal performance of the properties in Maes Glas and Maes Llewellyn, along with important external replacement of the windows, doors and roofs.

The External Wall insulation (EWI) has lifted the energy performance rating, improved thermal comfort and assisted in lowering our tenant’s energy bills.

In addition to this, the EWI has addressed damp and mould issues, which had become prevalent at these properties; improving the health of our customers now and in the future.

Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Dave Hughes, said:

“Flintshire was the first Council to start building council homes in a generation which shows how committed we are to providing quality housing for our residents.  The work done here continues our programme of improvements to all our existing council properties by updating their windows and other external features.”
