Queensferry Roundabout

Flintshire County Council will shortly be submitting a bid into Welsh Government through the Local Transport Fund for a scheme to improve Queensferry Roundabout and the nearby Asda Signal Junction, both of which currently experience lengthy delays during peak periods. This proposal will complement the recently completed Deeside Corridor Traffic Signal Synchronisation scheme which has significantly improved traffic flow along the A548 Deeside Corridor. Future development in the Deeside area, such as the Northern Gateway Development, will further increase traffic volumes on this critical junction, putting additional strain on the network and resulting in inevitable delays for road users. A full survey and feasibility study has been undertaken which recommends reconfiguring the existing layouts in order to provide additional capacity to deal with both the current and future traffic demands Councillor Bernie Attridge, The Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for the Environment said, “This scheme has been identified as a priority for Flintshire County Council in the recently submitted North Wales Local Transport Plan and I am requesting Welsh Government support the bid and recognise that improving this key junction is critical in providing resilience to the highway network on one of the key Gateways into North Wales and one that will support the projected economic growth in this area.
