Warm tributes have been paid to Councillor Stella Jones, who has sadly passed
away.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Aaron Shotton, said:
It is with immense personal sadness to hear of the passing of our Councillor
Stella Jones. Stella was both a wonderful lady and a dedicated public servant.
She was hugely respected within the County Council and in the community of
Caergwrle that she worked tirelessly for. The County has lost a Councillor that
made a huge difference to so many lives, and we shall all miss her deeply.
Chairman of the County Council, Councillor Glenys Diskin, said:
“I am so sorry to hear the news and my thoughts and condolences are with
Stella’s family. I thought very highly of Stella and she was a very hard
working councillor. As an officer and subsequently as a school governor and
County Councillor, she was committed to making a real difference on education
issues. She would go out of her way to help anybody and she will be very sadly
missed by us all.”
Vice Chairman, Councillor Ray Hughes, said:
She was a first class councillor and a friend to us all. She was a dedicated
and professional lady and was a good worker for her community. Stella was
well-liked by everyone.
Councillor Jones was first elected to Flintshire County Council in May 2004.
She was Vice-Chair of the Social Inclusion Forum between May 2004 and May 2008.
She had been a member of Hope Community Council since 2000 and was a school
governor at Castell Alun High School in Hope, and Abermorddu CP School. Prior
to being a county councillor, she worked in education within the County.
