RainbowBiz goes from strength to strength

Social Enterprise RainbowBiz has linked up with Ginger Pixie Photography.

In response to a request for photography services, Sue Oliver of RainbowBiz met Mel Cross of Ginger Pixie Photography to discuss how they could work together.

Sue explained to Mel all the services and projects delivered by RainbowBiz across Flintshire and the impact these have on the lives of some of the most isolated members of the community and Mel offered to support a year’s free photography services.  She said:

“It was very humbling to receive the offer of such professional services from a commercial business who understands how RainbowBiz positively impacts of the lives of people who engage with our projects. It will provide us with much needed professional images which will help us to promote our services to people who do not currently know we exist.”

Since receiving a start-up grant from Flintshire County Council in 2014, RainbowBiz has been developing and delivering community projects, supported by Flintshire’s Social Enterprise Officer, including: Digging Deeside, an award winning community allotment programme, C card sexual awareness training for young people, Arty Folk and Friendship Group, offering the opportunity to have a go at arts and crafts whilst making new friends, Quarterly Mind Body and Soul festivals delivered quarterly at Theatr Clwyd, which attract over 50 arts and crafts retailers and some 1,500 visitors to the theatre.

RainbowBiz also runs an ethnic clothing shop in the heart of Mold, RainbowBiz Hippy Shop which they have developed specifically to generate the revenue necessary to run the community projects.

Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Councillor Derek Butler, said: 

“It is great to be able to celebrate this collaboration between a social enterprise and a commercial business, as well as recognising all the other positive social enterprise work that is taking place in Flintshire. The Council understands the significance that social enterprises play in the local economy and we offer our full support through our Social Enterprise Officer.”

Since the offer of free support Mel has visited both the Hippy Shop and Digging Deeside project to take professional pictures.  She said:

“Ginger Pixie Photography will soon be entering into its fourth year in business and I wanted to give something back to the community this year.  I couldn’t think of a more inspirational organisation to work closely with and I look forward to spending more time with the girls and their team throughout 2019.”
