Gronant Recreation Field

A community has gathered to celebrate the protection of a highly valued recreational area. The Gronant Recreational Ground has been awarded prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Field status, from the organisation Fields in Trust, which protects pieces of land for posterity, restricting its use to outdoor play, sport and recreation for generations to come. Llanasa Community Council chairman Councillor Fred Gilmore was presented with the Fields in Trust plaque by Councillor Kevin Jones, Cabinet Member for Waste Strategy, Public Protection and Leisure who said: “Protecting the County’s green space for leisure and for children to play on is extremely important. Having somewhere to run around in the fresh air is a huge benefit in terms of health and welfare. Fifteen spaces across Flintshire have already been protected by the charity with the help of work done by the Council and partner agencies.” The event was attended by children from Gronant CP School and community councillors.
