Flintshire County Council - one of only six Local Authorities in England and Wales to gain early accreditation to the newly formed Enforcement Conduct Board

Published: 06/12/2024

There are over 300 Local Authorities in England and Wales, and Flintshire’s in-house enforcement service is one of only six local authorities to gain early accreditation from the Enforcement Conduct Board (ECB).

The ECB is an independent oversight body for the debt enforcement sector in England and Wales. The ECB have produced a set of new standards to ensure that everyone who is subject to enforcement action is treated fairly and consistently.

The money recovered for councils during enforcement helps to fund vital public services, but it can be a difficult and stressful experience for many.

Flintshire`s accreditation provides assurance that all activity carried out by our enforcement agents and contact centre teams, is compliant with the very latest best industry practice.

Cabinet Member for Finance, Cllr Paul Johnson said:

“We warmly welcome today’s announcement that Flintshire County Council is officially recognised as one of only six local authorities across England and Wales to gain early accreditation to the ECB standards – this is a tremendous achievement and demonstrates the Councils commitment to collecting income streams in a responsible and ethical way.”
