Following an invitation from Welsh government to submit applications through the Active Travel Fund, Flintshire County Council have been successful in obtaining funding to deliver strategic Active Travel and bus infrastructure improvements on Parkway (Zone 2) , Deeside Industrial Park and local walking and cycling links within Holywell Town.
The submissions follow the successful approval of the Councils Active Travel Integrated Network Map in 2017 for which the Greenfield Valley improvement scheme formed part.
Councillor Carolyn Thomas, Cabinet Member for Environment said:
‘’We are very pleased to have received Welsh Government funding to deliver these much needed Active Travel infrastructure projects. The Council are continually investigating ways to increase levels of walking and cycling and the provision of this funding will go a long way in achieving this goal. Improved levels of walking and cycling will improve the health and wellbeing of our communities and also help to improve air quality.
"I would like to pay tribute to our small team of officers who have worked hard on putting together good schemes that have resulted in successfully drawing down Welsh Government grant funding’’
