Buzzy Bee Day in Wepre Park
Published: 04/07/2018
Bees are vital to our community…
This event on 15 July will host a number of organisations and individuals who
have a passion for bees and want to spread the word on how to care share and
keep them.
Local bee keepers will be on site with their knowledge and skills to answer
questions and help families understand the importance of bees and how much they
are threatened. Chester Zoo, the Wildlife Trust and Plas Derw will also be
there with fun games for children.
An exhibition of artwork from a bee art competition run by the Friends of Wepre
Park in conjunction with the ranger service will be displayed.
Flintshire County Councils Cabinet Member for Streetscene and Countryside,
Councillor Carolyn Thomas, said:
“This is the first Buzzy Bee event set up to raise awareness of the importance
of bees to our ecosystem and their worrying population decline. It will change
people’s perceptions of the species and hopefully attract a new generation of
bee keepers in the future.’’
