Statement of Licensing Policy Review

Published: 17/05/2023

Cabinet Members will be asked to endorse the Statement of Gambling Policy when it meets on Tuesday 23 May.

The draft Statement of Gambling Policy sets out Flintshire County Council’s role and responsibilities under the Gambling Act 2005 and will be shared with the Cabinet before it is presented to County Council on 20 June 2023.

Speaking about the review of the Statement of Gambling Policy, the Cabinet Member for Planning, Public Health and Public Protection, Councillor Chris Bithell said:

“Our Licensing Team have worked collaboratively with colleagues across North Wales to provide a consistent and accessible policy for the North Wales region.

The refreshed policy addresses important issues around prevention of crime and disorder, ensuring gambling is conducted in a fair and open way and protects children and vulnerable people from harm or exploitation.

I welcome the draft policy and thank all stakeholders for their representations which have been taken into consideration in reviewing the policy.”

Subject to approval at County Council in June, the revised Statement of Gambling Policy will come into effect on 21 June 2023 for a period of three years.
