Published: 13/04/2023
There will be a GRAND BOOK AND MAP SALE at North East Wales Archives (NEWA), Hawarden on Saturday 22nd April 2023, 10am to 1pm. Following a Spring clear-out, we have been taking stock of all the items which we have collected during our 69 years at the Old Rectory and are selling some duplicates and items which are no longer required.
CASH ONLY! Browse and buy: books galore – not just history, but general interest and some fiction; postcards of historic Flintshire scenes; duplicate original historic OS maps from the 1870s up to the 1960s - you might be lucky enough to find one of your house or local area! Some oddities for sale include gramophone records and school magazines from the prestigious boarding school Lowther College, which was at Bodelwyddan Castle.
Our wonderful volunteers in the Conservation studio will also be demonstrating how they make bespoke packaging to protect our irreplaceable archives. If you are interested in joining us as a volunteer, or just want to see what they have been up to, please come along and see us on the day! Box making demos: 10.30am and 12pm.
There will be tea, coffee and cakes on sale so you can come along, browse, chat and enjoy a cuppa in the peaceful surroundings of the Old Rectory!
The proceeds will go into our donations fund towards more protective packaging materials for the irreplaceable archives – CASH ONLY please.
