Ruthin Gaol.jpgEveryone is welcome at a free Heritage Showcase event at Ruthin Gaol on Tuesday 28 March from 10.30am – 3.30pm.

There will be stalls and displays by a range of groups and organisations including Ruthin History Society, Corwen Museum, Buckley Society, Friends of Wrexham Cemetery, Menter Iaith and Clwydian Range & Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

It is also a great opportunity to find out more about the work that North East Wales Archives do and the resources they have as well as to have a sneak peak of Ruthin Gaol before it officially re-opens on 1 April.

The Heritage Showcase Event has been organised as part of a project to undertake an audit of the vast amount of material has been produced by individuals, community groups, local authorities and other organisations over the years to interpret the rich heritage of North East Wales. The audit covers heritage in the broadest sense including history, industrial innovation, everyday life and the natural environment across Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham.

The aim of the audit is to make it easier for anyone involved in the tourism sector, local business or the community to access the information to strengthen their sense of place.

The project is led by Flintshire County Council with support from Denbighshire County Council and Wrexham County Borough Council and is part funded through the LEADER programme by Cadwyn Clwyd.

This project has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities - Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.
