Celebrations for Mary’s 100th birthday!

Published: 19/06/2018

The Chairman of Flintshire County Council has helped another Flintshire resident celebrate a special birthday. An afternoon tea was held on 17 June to celebrate the 100th birthday of Mary Griffiths, nee Mather. Born in Rhuddlan, the eldest of 6 children, she came to Mold aged 5 and lived there until she moved to Flint, with her husband Harold and son Jim, nearly 60 years ago. Mrs Griffiths worked in the ammunition factory in Rhydymwyn during the war, while her husband was away for 6 years serving with the Royal Welch Fusiliers in Burma. She also volunteered for the Red Cross and helped in Mold Hospital before working in Woolworths and then Flint High School. Mrs Griffiths has many good neighbours and friends who joined her family on this happy occasion.
