Published: 29/05/2018
A number householders at Wepre Court, Connah’s Quay are now enjoying the
benefits of a range of new energy efficient schemes that have recently been
installed in their properties.
Flintshire County Council, in collaboration with a number of partners, has
managed the installation of a number of measures including: a new gas
connection to the properties supported by Wales and West Utilities, the
installation of loft insulation supported by Wall-Lag and the installation of
gas boilers and a central heating system funded by the Warm Homes Fund, ECO and
Flintshire County Council and installed by Warmer Energy.
10 households comprising county council tenants, private sector tenants and
owner- occupiers will benefit and the residents are delighted at the prospect
of not only having a warm home but also on the potential savings to their fuel
bills.
Mr. Howard Shirt, of Wepre Court, is extremely pleased with the work undertaken
and said;
“The difference this has made is beyond anything I ever thought of.”
Mr. Shirt was so impressed with how the whole installation process was dealt
with and the support and guidance available to the residents.
These householders are also amongst the first to benefit from support from the
Warm Homes Fund programme which is managed by Affordable Warmth Solutions, a
Community Interest Company (CIC), launched in Flintshire in January 2018.
Jeremy Nesbitt, Managing Director of Affordable Warmth Solutions said:
“Solving the issues associated with Fuel Poverty continues to challenge many of
our stakeholders and the feedback we’ve already received provides evidence of
how the Warm Homes Fund will make a positive difference to thousands of homes
throughout the country.”
Cllr. Bernie Attridge, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing, said;
“It is very pleasing to see how Flintshire County Council, and its partners,
are improving people’s homes and have improved the lives of these Wepre Court
residents. We hope through the Warm Homes Fund to support many more households
over the next 3 years.
