Pathway into Social Care
Published: 08/03/2018
Local residents have recently gained training, skills and experience in the
social care sector thanks to Flintshire Communities First.
The two week course had 10 attendees who benefitted from the training and
gained qualifications in various subjects including: safeguarding and
protecting, health and safety as well as first aid, communicating in Welsh and
moving and handling people.
Now that they have completed the course, they will have the opportunity to take
part in work tasters and work experience to help build on their knowledge of
the social care sector.
Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Councillor
Derek Butler, said:
“These “pathway” courses are a fantastic opportunity for people to gain
experience and skills which will help them find work in a sector which is of
interest to them. Not only have the participants gained valuable
qualifications, they can also take advantage of work tasters and work
experience opportunities on offer.”
Communities First is a Welsh Government programme who is working to support,
upskill and offer experience to individuals helping improve their chances of
employment.
