Changes to DB1
Published: 21/02/2018
From 2 April 2018, there will be changes to the DB1, DB2 and DB4 bus services.
These changes will impact the Flintshire section of the routes with journeys to
be withdrawn between Hope, Caergwrle, Llanfynydd Cymau, Treuddyn, Nercwys, Mold.
The new services will be operated by Stagecoach under contract to Cheshire West
& Chester Council following a recent procurement exercise. Commitment was
sought for future long-term funding for the Flintshire section of the routes;
however, given the current financial climate, the County Council is not in a
position to be able to commit funding beyond March 2018.
From 2 April 2018, the new services will operate as follows: -
· DB1 (re-numbered 61) will operate between Chester, Chester - Handbridge -
Westminster Park - Dodleston - Higher Kinnerton (Bennetts Lane).
· DB2 between Chester – Curzon Park – Saltney Ferry will be withdrawn. The
Handbridge element will be catered for by service 62 (a variation to service
61)
· DB4 will operate as it does now between Chester, Blacon, Saughall and Deeside
Industrial Park (Monday to Friday only
Options are currently being developed in consultation with the Community
Councils for the provision of alternative community based transport services in
response to the loss of the regular bus services. A new community minibus
service also operates through Cymau, Llanfynydd, Treuddyn and Leeswood to
Broughton shopping park twice each week. The number 40 bus service operated by
Townlynx Ltd from Mold through Treuddyn, Llanfynydd and Cymau to Wrexham
remains unaffected by these changes and continues to be subsidised by
Flintshire County Council.
