School Ages & Schools List

The school year that a child attends depends on their age.

By law, you must enrol your child at school by the term following their 5th birthday, unless you've chosen to home educate.

Nursery

Children can attend nursery from the September after their 3rd birthday.

Was your child born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022?

Will they have reached the age of 3 by August 31st 2025?

If so, your child will have the opportunity to start at a school nursery in September 2025.

Reception

Children can attend reception from the September after their 4th birthday.

Was your child born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021?

Will they have reached the age of 4 by August 31st 2025?

If so, your child will have the opportunity to start in reception class in September 2025.
