areas which the scheme covers:

· Safety
· Hygiene
· Workplace Health and Wellbeing
It is a national scheme managed by Public Health Wales, coordinated in
Flintshire as an extension to the Healthy Schools Scheme.
Little Rascals has been involved in the Healthy and Sustainable Pre-School
Scheme since 2013, receiving support with resources, training and advice. They
have been able to promote hygiene, physical activity, healthy eating and social
skills with the children in their care.
Sunray Day Nursery, Nercwys, Childminder Amanda Calloway from Treuddyn, and St
Winefrides Playgroup Holywell, have also recently completed all aspects of the
Scheme.
Flintshire County Council’s Chief Officer for Education and Youth, Ian Budd,
said:
“Healthy habits are established in the early years, making early-years
professionals the ideal people to encourage healthy living. This has the
potential to make a huge contribution to the health and wellbeing of children
in their care. The Healthy and Sustainable Pre-school Scheme helps them to do
this. The staff in all of the settings have shown real commitment to the scheme
and the children’s wellbeing and deserve recognition for their hard work.”
