Have your say!

Have your say on local matters and use your vote on County Council and Town and Community Council election day on Thursday, 4 May. Preparations are now well underway for the poll and Flintshire residents have until Thursday, 13 April to ensure they are registered to vote. Alternatively, residents have until 5pm on Tuesday, 18 April to apply for a postal vote and until 5pm on Tuesday, 25 April to apply for a proxy vote. Candidate nominations can be submitted to the Council’s Electoral Registration Team from Monday, 20 March to 4pm on Wednesday, 4 April and a full list of candidates will be available on the Council’s website (www.flintshire.gov.uk) on Thursday, 5 April. Returning Officer Colin Everett said: “The Council’s very experienced and knowledgeable Electoral Registration Team are organising the elections and providing advice and information to voters and to prospective candidates. It is important that people use their right to vote and ensure that are not disenfranchised because they are not registered to take part in the coming elections. Voting also ensures you have a say on local issues and services, whilst being on the electoral register can maintain your credit rating. “People should not assume that they are able to vote just because just because they are registered for other things such as Council Tax. If in doubt, residents should contact our Electoral Registration Team to check whether they are registered to vote.” Registering to vote only takes a few minutes: register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or telephone the Electoral Registration Team on 01352 702412.
