Council signs up to Armed Forces award
Published: 19/01/2017
Flintshire County Council has been awarded the bronze award from the Defence
Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) by the Ministry of Defence.
The ERS encourages employers to support defence and inspire others to do the
same. There are three levels - bronze, silver and gold.
Flintshire County Council’s Armed Forces Champion, Councillor Andy Dunbobbin,
said:
“Flintshire has signed up to the bronze level award showing that we support the
armed forces and are open to employing reservists, armed forces veterans, cadet
instructors and partners of military personnel. I am extremely proud to
Champion the Armed Forces in Flintshire and this award complements the Armed
Forces Covenant which the Council already holds.”
The Covenant is a voluntary statement of mutual support between civilian
communities and their local Armed Forces community.
The ERS is designed primarily to recognise private sector support although
public sector organisations, such as local authorities, are also eligible to be
recognised.
