Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet will review a report presented by Cambrian
Aquatics, the social enterprise which took over the running of Connah’s Quay
swimming pool in May 2016, when it meets later this month.
The swimming pool has operated successfully and new swimming programmes and
other initiatives have been introduced and take-up has been positive.
Cambrian Aquatics received initial subsidies from Flintshire Council as well as
Connah’s Quay Town Council. These are subject to an annual review depending on
business performance.
The report sets out the positive progress and proposes a further grant of
£65,000 for the second year of operation subject to a number of conditions.
Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure Services, Councillor
Kevin Jones, said:
“This is a fine example of another successful community asset transfer and the
Council has had a positive response to the CAT scheme from all over the county.
We continue to look for long term solutions to sustain our local services and
assets and provide opportunities for regeneration and social enterprise.”
