New artificial sports pitch for Mold

Published: 11/01/2017

The artificial sports pitch at Mold Alun High School is due to be replaced, according to a report which will be presented at the Corporate Resources Overview and Scrutiny Committee later this month. This is part of a substantial commitment to play in the region of £900,000 by Flintshire County Council. The allocation will support the Council’s wider strategic aims and objectives and ensure it keeps delivering on its health agenda both in its schools and to the wider public. The Leader of the Council, Councillor Aaron Shotton, said: The Council has made a clear commitment to sustaining play provision within the County and is investing in play areas and synthetic sport pitches such as this one in Mold. I am proud that Flintshire has taken this bold step and continues to protect such facilities for our residents to use and enjoy.” Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure Services, Councillor Kevin Jones, said: “I am delighted with the planned improvements to play areas and sports pitches detailed in this report. I am sure that they will prove popular with local pupils and residents.” Local ward member, Councillor Haydn Bateman, said: “I’m really pleased about this investment as this pitch is well used by both the Alun School and Ysgol Maes Garmon as well as the Leisure Centre. It will ensure this great community facility is protected for the future.” CAPTION: Cllr Aaron Shotton, Cllr Haydn Bateman and Cllr Kevin Jones with Leisure Centre manager Gary Roberts and Year 9 pupils from Mold Alun School
