Flintshire County Council has hosted a special civic event to recognise the
achievement of our county’s Paralympic heroes.
Sabrina Fortune, F20 shot put bronze medallist, and Beverley Jones who competed
in the F37 discus in 2016 – her 5th Paralympic Games in a row - were welcomed
at a reception hosted by the Chairman, Councillor Peter Curtis, the Leader,
Cllr Aaron Shotton and Chief Executive, Colin Everett, along other councillors
and officers.
Following the reception, the athletes attended a presentation at the start of
the County Council meeting in County Hall, Mold where they each received a
bouquet of flowers and a standing ovation.
Chairman of Flintshire County Council, Councillor Peter Curtis, said:
“It is a tremendous honour to welcome these two outstanding athletes to County
Hall today. On behalf of the whole of Flintshire County Council, I would like
to thank you both for your incredible contribution to sport, not only
nationally, but in the local area.
I am delighted that both Beverley, Sabrina and their guests, were able to join
us today. It is fitting that their home county should recognise their
achievements and I warmly congratulate both of you on your success.”
