Town gets support for makeover
Published: 20/07/2016
Flintshire County Council is introducing a shop improvement grant scheme in
Buckley this month and is asking for businesses who are interested to get in
touch.
The criteria for the grant will be:
· up to £10,000 capital funding per property
· needs to benefit the appearance of the town, or bring vacant properties into
use;
· needs to be in the core retail area of Buckley town centre;
· must be match funded – we will provide 60% towards the costs of internal
works and 80% for external works;
· will not support routine maintenance or the purchase of equipment.
Flintshire County Council Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Councillor
Derek Butler, said:
“This is a fantastic scheme to help business owners to upgrade their premises –
both inside and out, and help breathe new life back into the town centre. I
would encourage building owners or tenants to get in touch to see how they can
apply. The Council is making £85,000 available overall, so applications will
be dealt with on a first come first served basis.
“The scheme will focus on High Street properties to improve the appearance of
units (external works) and to tackle vacant properties (internal and external
works).”
Further details, support to help applicants through the process and a full
application pack will be available soon but, if you would like to informally
express interest or would like further information please contact 01352 701427
