School Transport Review

Cabinet will consider an information and update report setting out recommendations from the Council’s Education & Youth Overview & Scrutiny Committee on school transport when it meets on Tuesday, 21 June. The Education & Youth Overview & Scrutiny Committee has reviewed the findings of its Task & Finish Group on school transport and is recommending that Cabinet approve their recommendations. The Task & Finish group itself considered a report from independent consultants that could have seen, in some cases, the removal of free discretionary transport and an increase in transport fees for others. Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Councillor Chris Bithell, said: “Cabinet will be receiving a short information report updating on the considerations of a Scrutiny Committee Task and Finish Group considering education transport provision in the County. It is important to confirm and assure communities that there are no current plans to change transport policy.”
