10th anniversary celebrations have started for Flintshire Business Week
Published: 14/06/2016
Flintshire County Council’s flagship business event, Flintshire Business Week
(FBW), now in its 10th year, was launched on Monday 6 June at Soughton Hall, in
Northop.
The business week itself has moved to September and will take place 27 to 30
September, with the Flintshire Business Awards 2016 following on Friday, 21
October.
The event, in association with AGS Security Systems and Westbridge Furniture
Designs, is one of the most important events of its kind in the region,
regularly attracting over 2,000 businesses. It supports the business community
in the county and, increasingly, the wider region, to promote their companies,
to develop trading opportunities and to raise the profile of the area as a
place to invest.
This is the third year that the event is led by Lord Barry Jones. Lord Jones
has massive experience of working to help industry in Wales and Deeside, he was
one of the longest serving MPs in the House of Commons and was a former
Secretary of State for Wales.
Highlights for the programme this year include the Regional Business Exhibition
at Coleg Cambria Deeside; Regional Jobs and Skills evening at De Vere Village
Hotel; Economy and Ambition seminars at Soughton Hall and a Tourism Network
Event at Dangerpoint in Talacre.
The Leader of Flintshire County Council, Councillor Aaron Shotton, said:
Flintshire Business Week helps our local businesses and puts our area on the
map. It is a unique and very successful partnership between the public and
private sectors. I am delighted that Lord Barry Jones continues as President of
FBW, we are very fortunate to have such a fantastic ambassador for industry and
our county.”
Lord Jones said: “It is a great honour to be part of Flintshire Business Week,
especially this year when it celebrates its 10th anniversary.
“We are looking to take Business Week further forward over the next few years
to make it even more successful.”
Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Councillor
Derek Butler, said:
““Flintshire Business Week has grown from strength to strength over the past 10
years and has welcomed over 23,000 delegates during that time. I would like to
thank our headline sponsors AGS Security Systems - sponsors of the Business
Awards and Westbridge Furniture Designs – sponsors of the Business Exhibition.
Without their support, these events would not have grown into the prestigious
occasions they are today.”
“I must also say that we are very fortunate to have Flintshire’s business
ambassador, Rt. Hon. Lord Barry Jones, as our president.”
“I’d like to encourage everyone to come along to this year’s events in
September.
