One week to go! Register now to have your say on Thursday 5 May
Published: 11/04/2016
With only one week to go until the deadline, the Electoral Commission and
Flintshire County Council is encouraging residents to make sure they are
registered to vote.
On Thursday 5 May voters in Wales will go to the polls for National Assembly
for Wales and Police and Crime Commissioner elections.
The deadline to register, if you want to be able to vote and have your say at
these elections, is Monday 18 April.
Returning Officer Colin Everett said:
“With only one week to go, time is running out to make sure you can take part
in these elections in Wales. Our message is simple: if you’re not registered by
18 April you can’t vote. I’d encourage everyone in Flintshire to act now if
you’re not registered to vote and apply online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.”
Rhydian Thomas, Head of the Electoral Commission, Wales said:
“The deadline to register is on Monday 18 April 2016 so there is not long left
to make sure you are registered and able to take part in these important
National Assembly for Wales and Police and Crime Commissioner elections in
Wales on 5 May. Our research shows that the biggest reason people give for not
being registered is moving house, with 2 in 5 people in Wales giving this as an
explanation.
“Every household should have received our voter information booklet that has
all the information you need to both register and cast your vote with
confidence. Copies of our booklet can be viewed at www.aboutmyvote.co.uk or
ordered on 0800 3 280 280.”
