Gill Benjamin and Jackie Walter Exhibition
Published: 30/11/2015
An inspiring exhibition of paintings and mixed media artworks by talented
artists Gill Benjamin and Jackie Walter, both from Mynydd Isa in Flintshire
will be held at Buckley Library between 1-23 December.
This is the sixth in the series of exhibitions, Art in the Library – Lliw yn y
Llyfrgell, which aims to support local artists, some of which have never
exhibited before, by giving them a platform to showcase their work to the
public. Throughout the year the exhibition programme at Flintshire’s Libraries
will include paintings by Angie Hoopert, Emma-Jayne Holmes and Clayton Langford
and photography by Ceridwen Barkley.
Gill Benjamin said:
“I am an amateur artist living in Mynydd Isa. I have enjoyed painting all my
life, but since retiring, I am able to indulge my passion for painting with
greater consistency. All subject matters interest me- particularly landscapes,
seascapes, architecture and animal portraits. I welcome new challenges. I enjoy
working in many media: acrylics are my current favourites.”
Jackie Walter said:
“In retirement I have returned to a past time that I love......painting!
I am inspired by nature and the beautiful Welsh countryside, holiday
destinations and often that must paint photograph. I am intrigued by textures
in rocks and plants and enjoy working with a palette knife for effect. Each
work takes me on a different journey and brings new experiences. I am a member
of the Flintshire Visual Arts and Crafts Network and The Holywell Art Group. I
have enjoyed exhibiting and selling my Art locally and have completed several
commissioned paintings.”
Councillor Chris Bithell, Cabinet Member for Education, said:I am proud that
Flintshire County Councils Arts, Culture and Events team and our Libraries
service are continuing to support our local talent - showcasing their work and
supporting our artists as businesses.”
