Apprentices - Youre Hired!

Published: 09/10/2015

Flintshire County Council has welcomed 30 new apprentices to the authority. The new recruits met with Chief Executive Colin Everett on an induction day at the Council’s Learning and Development Academy at Coleg Cambria, Northop. A number of apprentices are recruited each year to work across the organisation learning new skills including business, accountancy, ICT, countryside management, joinery and bricklaying whilst attending college one day a week to gain industry recognised qualifications. This year to further expand its training schemes, the Council has also employed 3 graduates who will work at the authority whilst studying for their Masters. Council Leader Aaron Shotton said: “We want to ensure that young people in Flintshire achieve their potential and our apprenticeship scheme demonstrates our continued commitment to creating opportunities for local people.” Colin Everett, Chief Executive, said: “We have seen many of our former trainees go on to very successful careers in their chosen trades and professions. The success rates are demonstrated in our figures with over 96% of those on the scheme gaining employment or higher education places at the end of the programme. We are very proud of our Apprentice scheme and our partnership with Coleg Cambria.”
