Plans on show
Plans for new council and affordable homes on the site of the former Walks
complex in Flint town centre will be on view at a public information event at
the Church of St. Mary and St. David on Church Street on Friday, 9 October
between 10am and 5pm.
The Walks will be the first site to be re-developed as part of the Councils
Strategic Housing and Regeneration Programme (SHARP) where a combination 92 new
council and affordable homes will be built with construction work scheduled to
begin early in 2016.
Cllr. Helen Brown, Cabinet Member for Housing said,
The plans are based on a Flintshire Housing Standard, which has been developed
to provide a high quality and technical specification for the new properties.
I am delighted that we are moving forward with this exciting housing and
regeneration programme on the former maisonettes complex.
Cllr. Aaron Shotton, Leader of the Council said,
These are particularly exciting times, not only for Flint town centre but for
the whole county as the councils SHARP aims to build 500 new homes across
Flintshire over the next five years, including over 200 new council homes.”
The SHARP programme will deliver upon this Councils priorities, not only to
provide new Council homes and affordable housing for the people of Flintshire,
but also providing local employment and training opportunities.”
