Art in the Library

Published: 29/09/2015

An inspiring exhibition of portraits by Broughton artist Clayton Langford will be on display at the upstairs gallery in Buckley Library throughout October. This is the fifth in the series of exhibitions, Art in the Library – Lliw yn y Llyfrgell, which aims to support local artists, some of which have never exhibited before, by giving them a platform to showcase their work to the public. Throughout the year the exhibition programme at Flintshire’s Libraries will include paintings by Angie Hoopert, Emma-Jayne Holmes and Clayton Langford, drawings by Scott Bongo’s and photography by Ceridwen Barkley. Clayton says about his work: “I am a multi media artist from Broughton, Flintshire. I enjoy exploring and working with a variety of different mediums including graphite pencil, ink, acrylic and watercolour paint. A portrait artist first and foremost, I gain inspiration through my passion for and love of music from a variety of genres.” Councillor Chris Bithell, Cabinet Member for Education, said: I am proud that Flintshire County Councils Arts, Culture and Events team and our Libraries service are continuing to support our local talent - showcasing their work and supporting our artists as businesses.” A private viewing of Clayton’s exhibition will take place at 5.30pm on Thursday 1 October and his work will be on display throughout October. If any makers, artists and crafters would like to display their work as part of the ‘Lliw yn y Llyfrgell – Art in the Library’ initiative they can email gwenno.e.jones@flintshire.gov.uk with three images of their work and a short statement about their art or craft practice.
