The Chairman of Flintshire County Council Councillor Ray Hughes and Mrs Hughes recently visited Mrs Nellie Hayes who was celebrating her 102nd birthday at Wepre Villa Care Home in Connahs Quay. Born in Accrington on the 29 June 1913 she was nick named Tiny all her life. She was married to John Hayes for 76 years. John was in the RAF. They had four children and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Nellie worked for Bristol Aircraft Company on the 1942 Lancashire Bomber where she was in charge of testing in the drawing office. She loved travelling aboard. She moved to Wepre Villa in 2014.
