Hundreds of people attended a jobs, skills and training event to support
employment in Flintshire at Connah’s Quay Civic Hall.
Aimed at adults and young people seeking work, the interactive event gave them
the opportunity to meet with employers, education establishments and support
agencies.
There were over 700 job vacancies available, in a variety of sectors with
applicants taking advantage of the ‘on the day’ support to fill in application
forms.
Employers included; ASDA Queensferry, Westbridge Furniture and Ralawise with a
number of interviews arranged on the day. For those needing help with
employability or entrepreneurship skills, workshops were also available giving
practical advice.
The event was organised by Communities First Flintshire, Jobcentre Plus and
Careers Wales. Communities First Flintshire also showcased their work including
the new LIFT programme, developed to support the long term unemployed back into
work. Along with applying for vacancies, jobseekers were able to meet with and
put questions to employers, learning providers and many other support
organisations.
