Dates announced for town centre public consultation events

Flintshire County Council is set to hold a series of public consultation sessions where local people are being encouraged to help shape the future of four town centres across Flintshire: Connah’s Quay, Flint, Mold and Queensferry.

The consultation activity planned is part of a process to develop seven ‘Place Making Plans’ for town centres across Flintshire within the next two years.

Place Making Plans will set out a future vision for each town, outline actions that would help improve the overall vibrancy and attractiveness of the place and meet the needs of people who live, work and visit the towns and identify opportunities for a range of stakeholders to work more collaboratively to deliver improvements. 

This work is being led by Flintshire County Council is in response to the Welsh Government’s request to all local authorities across Wales to establish Place Making Plans for their towns. The need to establish plans has become a condition to Welsh Government investment being made available to support town centre regeneration projects in the future.

Councillor David Healey, Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Economy said: “As with a lot of towns across the country, Flintshire’s high streets have changed considerably over recent years due to changes in shopping habits and the global pandemic. 

“It is now opportune to review how our town centres can be revitalised, and identify how local people, and our local economy can benefit from positive change and investment in the future.”

Local people who live or work in or near to Connah’s Quay, Flint, Mold and Queensferry will have had the opportunity to participate in an online survey about their town centres earlier this year. Following the closure of the online survey, having received over 3500 responses from members of the public, a series of face-to-face drop-in sessions will be held in each town. These sessions will be held on:

Flint

July 11: Flint Library 3.30pm – 5.30pm

July 13: Flint Library 9.30am – 11.30am

Queensferry

July 18: Ty Calon 3.30pm – 5.30pm

July 20: Aura Suite, Deeside Leisure Centre 9.30am – 11.30am

Connah’s Quay

September 12: Connah’s Quay Civic Hall 3.30pm – 5.30pm

September 14: Connah’s Quay Library 9.30am – 11.30am

Mold

September 19: Mold Library 3.30pm – 5.30pm
