Flintshire County Council continues to monitor the situation on the section of
the B5101, Ffrith, that has been affected by a recent landslip on the bank
above the road.
Initial investigations have raised concerns regarding the underlying structure
of the road and the condition of the road surface continues to worsen due to
the instability of the bank above it.
National Resource Wales is investigating the potential contributory factors
which may have led to the incident occurring and the Council has commissioned a
specialist geo-technical engineer to undertake a more detailed ground
Investigation which will include recommendations for remedial work at the site.
The Council is reviewing options to open the road as soon as possible, however,
given the nature of the works that will be required, the road closure is likely
to remain in place for the immediate future.
Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Streetscene, Councillor Carolyn
Thomas, said:
“The Council is intending to hold a local public meeting with the community and
our partners on Tuesday 15 August at 7pm in the Ffrith Community Centre to
update those affected by the closure.”
