Weighbridge operator's certificate


Licence summary 

To operate a public weighbridge, you require a certificate of competence issued by the Chief Inspector for Weights and Measures for your local authority.


Eligibility criteria 

You must have sufficient knowledge for the proper performance of your duties.

Will tacit consent apply? 

Yes. This means that you will be able to act as though your application is granted if you have not heard from the local authority by the end of the target completion period.

Failed application redress

Please contact your Local Authority in the first instance.

Any person refused such a certificate by a chief inspector may appeal against the refusal to the Secretary of State, who may if he thinks fit direct the chief inspector to grant the certificate.
